West Bromwich Albion have swooped to sign Everton’s highly-rated left-back Brendan Galloway on a season-long loan deal.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis swooped for the versatile 20-year-old, who can also operate as a central defender, as he looks to bolster his squad with up to five new signings ahead of the 31st August deadline.
I think for me personally, it’s really important to gain more experience. Coming here is the perfect opportunity to do that.Brendan Galloway
Galloway, who has represented England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, joined the Toffees from MK Dons in summer 2014 but forced his way into the first team at the start of last season, making 14 Premier League starts when Leighton Baines was sidelined with an ankle injury.
Everton moved to tie Galloway down to a new deal to keep him at Goodison Park until summer 2020, but he will now look to continue his development at the Hawthorns this season.
He told the club’s website: “It’s a great Club and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
“My aims are to play and work hard for the team and help win as many matches as I can, it’s all about winning.
“I think for me personally, it’s really important to gain more experience. Coming here is the perfect opportunity to do that.
“I can’t wait to get started and put the shirt on.”
Albion, who are 3/1 to be relegated, lost 2-1 at home to Galloway’s parent club Everton on Saturday and have three points from their opening two matches.
