Zinedine Zidane admits some of his Real Madrid players need to get up to speed after watching them lose 3-1 to Paris St-Germain.
The International Champions Cup clash at the Ohio Stadium was Real’s first match since their Champions League final victory against Atletico Madrid in May but they were second-best to the French side for long periods.
Thomas Meunier scored twice for PSG after Jonathan Ikone had broken the deadlock before Marcelo scored a late penalty for Zidane’s well-beaten side.
The Real boss admitted afterwards: “We can’t have this result happening again, but what we have to do and what we’re trying to do, is to give our all when we play.
“We’re currently in the preparation phase and we’ve got to get up to speed. But we were a bit lacking in terms of aggression against strong opposition, particularly in the first half.”
Key Real trio Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale all missed the match.
Real play Chelsea on Saturday and are 17/2 to beat the Premier League side 1-0. Meanwhile, they are 6/4 to win the La Liga title in 2016/17 and 9/2 to retain the Champions League.
