Southampton head coach Ronald Koeman wants to see his side round off a fine season in style against Crystal Palace next weekend (Southampton are 4/9 to take all three points against Crystal Palace).
The Saints lie sixth in the Premier League standings with one game to play, with a place in the Europa League qualifying rounds next season within their grasp.
Both West Ham and Liverpool can overhaul the Saints with wins in midweek, but Koeman is focused on his team getting the job done at home to the Eagles next Sunday.
He said after a superb 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday: “It’s a great win for us, because to win here against Tottenham, one of the best teams in the league, is a big result.
“We knew our situation, you need to be realistic about your possibilities and we need one more win. This victory will give everybody a lot of confidence, we like to finish the season on a high.
“We spoke about a special season last season, but then this season will be even more special.”
“If we can win next week at home we will have 63 points – a really fantastic achievement by the team. We like to play in Europe and it’s important for the clubs and the players.”
Southampton are 4/9 to take all three points against Crystal Palace and are 13/2 to win by a 2-0 scoreline, with a draw at St Mary’s priced at 10/3.
Meanwhile, midfielder Steven Davis, who scored twice at White Hart Lane backed up boss Koeman by saying that his side need to ensure a winning finish to the campaign.
He told the club’s official YouTube channel: “I think we’ve got it all to play for. We’ve got one home game left in front of our own fans and we want to finish the season off in the right manner.”
